OUR STORY

Hello!  My name is Joe Huss and I am the CEO and founder of The DeckHand Company. I established my company in the spring of 2023. Being an avid DIYer, I’ve always tried to tackle home improvement projects to save money and learn new skills. I have experience in building decks, remodeling houses, shingling roofs, and working with trusses.  

 

However, I kept running into problems while trying to do these projects by myself. I wanted to create something that would not only effectively assist me but would also be efficient and safe.  My ideas manifested in the creation and development of tools that I believe will be in demand and utilized by everyone spanning from DIYers like myself, to commercial contractors in the building industry.

The DeckHand Extender:This product allows a single worker to install floor joists on a deck. Whether it is a deck three feet off the ground or a second story deck, the DeckHand Extender easily allows a single worker to install all joists accurately. Most ideally, the DeckHand Extender allows for hands free—giving way to the ability to use power tools, install fasteners and joist hangers.

The DeckHand Spacer:This high-strength polypropylene Spacer is perfect for the DIY builder to accurately measure spacing on joists, studded walls, and roof trusses. The Spacer eliminates measuring with a tape measure and keeps hands free to safely secure joists or trusses with any tool. Installation times are faster and contractors save on labor.

The DeckHand SpacerPro:Like the DeckHand Spacer, the SpacerPro accurately measures floor joists and roof trusses. Both products measure for 16” and 24” centers, with SpacerPro also including 12”. Made of grade A steel with a powder-coated finish, it’s ideal for daily contractor use.
